• Venipuncture and Dermal Puncture: Performing blood draws using needles (venipuncture) or finger/heel sticks (capillary punctures).
• Patient Identification: Verifying patient identity to ensure that blood samples are matched to the correct medical records.
• Patient Interaction: Explaining procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and monitoring them for adverse reactions like fainting or dizziness.
• Sample Labeling and Processing: Carefully labeling vials with patient names, dates, and times, then preparing them for transport to a laboratory.
• Equipment Maintenance: Sterilizing tools, disposing of "sharps" (needles) in biohazard containers, and maintaining a clean work area to prevent infection.

• Mobile Services: Traveling to private residences or insurance offices to collect samples.
• Point-of-Care Testing: Performing basic bedside tests, such as checking blood glucose levels.
• Data Entry: Entering patient information and lab results into electronic health record (EHR) systems.
